Our Eco-Tour Description and Details
This new eco-adventure to Point Reyes National Seashore and wonders will take you to the best kept secret and hidden natural wonders in Marin County and San Francisco Bay Area. This 8 hour eco-adventure combines our guided tour to Muir Wood national monumentwith a green tour to Point Reyes natural wonders, national seashore, and beaches. This adventure will also take you to Stinson Beach, Bolinas, Bear Valley and Muir Beach.
Today, your tour guide will pick you up at 9 am at your hotel in San Francisco or in Sausalito, anddrive you by a 4x4 SUV to Muir Woods via the Golden Gate Bridge and Mill Valley. Your entrance fees to Muir Woods are included. Your tour guide will offer you two options regarding your walking tour in the forest: either you enjoy hiking on your own in the forest for about an hour or ask for a complimentary guided walking tour in Muir Woods with our tour guide.
After your discovery tour of the giant redwoods in Muir Woods national park, your tour guide will drive you to Muir Beach overlook, a picturesque viewpoint located on the Oceanside. Afterwards, you will travel on California scenic highway one to Stinson Beach, Bolinas, Olema valley(gorge formed by the San Andreas Fault in rural west Marin County), Bear Valley,Tomales Bay, Inverness, Seahaven, Drakes Bay, and then embark on your green tour to Point Reyes natural wonders.
You will travel with our passionate tour guide through picturesque lagoons, meadows and forests along the beautiful rugged coastline of Marin County to admire its unique flora and fauna including wild flowers, sea otters, harbor seals elk, elephant seals and eventually whales! Our eco-tour will also take youto Bear Valley visitor center and museum of natural history.
You will enjoy your lunch at a local beach restaurant located off the beaten path within Point Reyes national seashore area. After lunch, we will drive through beautiful rangelandsand dairy farms to visit a hidden beach where you can see from a viewpoint some 3000 pounds Elephant Seals playing and flipping sand on their backs at the beach
Afterwards, our tour guide will drive you towards the ocean and Point Reyes historic lighthouse. Point Reyes lighthouse is also bird and whales watching overlook which was founded in 1965. Approximately 80 seasonal biologists come to Point Reyes National Seashore every year to study the effects of climate change on our ecosystems in California.
Humpback and blue whales may swim by Point Reyes lighthouse on the way to Baja California or on the way back to Alaska ,depending on the season and weather conditions.
After such an exciting adventure, your tour guide will drive you back to your hotel in San Francisco via Sausalito where you may also stay and then return to San Francisco by ferry( the tickets are not included but affordable).

Our Tour Itinerary
9:00 AM Pick Up:
Complimentary pick up at your hotel in downtown San Francisco area, in the Fisherman's Wharf, Japan Town or in Sausalito located in Marin County. Our driver will come to your hotel to meet and greet you with a sign displaying your first and last name. You will meet you in the lobby of your hotel or outside depending on the location of your hotel.
9:45 AM - 11:0 A Walking Tour in Redwood Forest
Drive on the panoramic highway via mill valley on the way to Muir Woods National Monument. Your entrance fees to Muir Woods Parkare included. Their rates keep going up but our rates have not changed for years to make our private tours more affordable for everybody. Take a hike or enjoy an exciting guided walking tour in the park.
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Walking Tour at Muir Beach & Stinson Beach
It's time to leave Muir Woods national park and head south towards Muir Beach overlook where you will take a hike on picturesque hanging cliffs overlooking Muir Beach, on the Oceanside. Afterwards, you will travel west on highway one to visit Stinson Beach where you may also enjoy your lunch there. Stinson Beach is large sandy beach where surfers and kite surfers meet but also families with kids. You can either have your lunch break in Stinson Beach or in Bolinas located 8 miles west of Stinson Beach.
12:30 PM Drive to Bolinas
The coastal town of Bolinas is located off California highway 1 surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and beautiful lagoons. The trough in which this beautiful lagoon sits was actually formed by the San Andreas Fault which runs directly along highway one and through Point Reyes. Bolinas is a small community known for its reclusive residents and only accessible via unmarked road. Bolinas is home to villas and cottage houses and also home for its old saloon which was built during the Gold Rush. Many surfers and kite- surfers meet in Bolinas where they come change the turbulent waves on the Pacific Oceanside, located 35 miles north of San Francisco. You may also enjoy your lunch in Bolinas or in Point Reyes area.
1:00 PM - 3:15PM Visit Point Reyes Natural Wonders
We will now head west to Point Reyes through beautiful grassland farmlands and beautiful country side. Picture the scenic and spectacular scenery as we travel through Point Reyes National Seashore, the best kept secret natural wonders in Northern California. You will be amazed by its flora and fauna including wild flowers, harbor seals, elk elephant seals and eventually whales. You will visit Point Reyes historic lighthouse where whales and dolphins may swim by, depending on the season and weather forecast. Our tour guide will also drive you to an overlook to picture huge elephant seals lying on the beach before or after you visit the beautiful bay of Drake where lunch may take place, on a beach restaurant. We will also visit Bear Valley visitor center considered as a museum of natural history and much more.
3:30 PM Bear Valley Hiking trails and Point Reyes
Bear Valley hiking trails are the most popular trails in Marin County. Many wild reservations, beaches and valleys are not accessible to vehicles and can be reached on foot only. Some hikes may take one to 3 days but other trails are less challenging and last few hours only. Hikers leave from Bear Valley visitor's center all the way up through the forest and then downward to the coast, where the hiking trail emerges at the spectacular ocean views.
Bear Valley is also home to a beautiful and a very interesting visitor center considered as a museum of natural history. We recommend this museum and visitor center for families with kids.
4:00 PM Tomales Bay State Park
An optional side trip may also take you to Tomales Bay State Park. The Coastal Miwok were the first to inhabit the coastal area of sheltered coves, tidal, beaches, marshlands, and forestknown today as Tomales Bay State Park. It’s located38 miles north of San Francisco , between Bodega Bay and San Francisco. In 1579, Sir Francis Drake was the first to reach Tomales Bay, followed by the Spaniards in 1595. Also, German and Russian scientists were believed to reach and explore Tomales Bay in the early 1700s.
Tomales Bay State Park consists of approximately 2,000 acres and divided between two sections, one on the west side of Tomales Bay and the other section on the eastern side of the bay. Tomales Bay is also part of the Point Reyes peninsulaand adjacent to Point Reyes National Seashore.
4:40PM Explore Sausalito and its Houseboat Community
After your green adventure to Point Reyes natural wonders in Marin County, you will travel on scenic highway 1 heading back to San Francisco. You will drive through Bear Valley, Olema, Bolinas, Stinson Beach, Muir Beach area, and end up in Sausalito. In Sausalito, you can have a free afternoon to enjoy walking along the picturesque bay of san Francisco, go shopping downtown Sausalito, or dining in in one of the most celebrated restaurants in Sausalito. You can also stay as long as you want and return to San Francisco on your won by ferry.(ferry tickets are not included but affordable). Please keep an eye on the last ferry so you don’t miss it. If you have nointention to stay in Sausalito, please let your tour guide know so you don’t drive through Sausalito on the way back and instead, drive up Marin Headlands overlook where you will make the best photographs of San Francisco and its spectacular bay

Our one hour horseback ride is recommended for beginners and suits the whole family. The itinerary of this exciting horseback tour is the same as the above Point Reyes tour itinerary. We simply make room for your one hour horseback ride and include our guided tour to Muir Woodsnational park and Point Reyes national seashore. No equestrian experience is necessary to ride your favorite horse. You will be supervised by a trainer who will assist you in the course of this horseback ride in the forest. They will choose the right horse for each one of you based on your experience and age. As the trainers escort you along the trail, they will answer your questions and talk to you about the flora and fauna of the forest. You will also visit Stinson Beach, Bolinas, Muir Beach overlook, and Point Reyes national seashore and the historic lighthouse.
This adventure includes all your taxes, entrance fees to Muir Woods and your horseback ride and fees.
